Chisapani Helambu short Trekking in Nepal Highlights

The Helambu Trek is a perfect short trek near the Kathmandu Valley. Despite being so close to Kathmandu, the Helambu region remains relatively unspoiled. Besides the Hyolmo culture of high mountain people, the trek also offers the company of Green Rhododendron and Bamboo Forest, majestic waterfalls, and the snow-capped Himalayas. This component of the trek makes this trek one of the most diverse treks near Kathmandu. The great Himalayan scenery at the border of Tibet and monasteries makes trekking to this region an enthralling experience. People living in the highlands of the Langtang region are certainly Nepalis but are descendants of the Tibetan origin look-alike Tibetans.
The Helambu Trek begins from Sundarijal, an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. After about an hour of walking, we enter Shivapuri National Park. Continuing along the Chisopani, Kutumsang, Thadepati, and Sermathang the trek ends at the Melamchipul Bazar in Helambu. The trek passes through thick mountain forests with great Himalayan views and at the end of the trip, we pass beautiful rice terraces and a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries.

Accommodation During Trekking
During the trek, we will be staying at local teahouses. These offer accommodation and food served in a dining room which also functions as a social meeting place for other trekkers. All accommodation is on a twin shared basis. A single room is usually available at a little extra cost. The tour guide will arrange the best available accommodation in each village. As we advance to higher and more remote villages it may occasionally be necessary to share a room with more than 2 people. During the treks, most of the bathroom and toilet facilities are shared and the toilet can be either a squat or a western toilet.

Meals During Trekking
In Kathmandu, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food such as Thali and Momo at a traditional Nepalese restaurant. For instance, a Newari restaurant is a special place serving Newari food (the Newari are the indigenous people of the Kathmandu valley). Newari food is famous and unique. During the trek, we will eat traditional Nepalese food as well as more international cuisine (Tibetan, Indian, Italian, and continental). Dinner and breakfast will be taken at the teahouse where we spend the night and lunch at one of the trail teahouses.
