Overview of Tamang heritage treks

Tamang Heritage Trek is the most accessible trek in Nepal that lies on the north side of Kathmandu valley. Tamang Heritage Trek is perfect for those trekkers who don’t want to trek in higher elevation but wants to enjoy the beauty of the Himalayas. Tamang Heritage Trek will give you a lucky chance to involve yourself fully in the local culture of one of Nepal’s few authentic hill tribes high on the border with Tibet. Tamang Heritage Trek is one of the special treks that allow you to experience the unique lifestyle of the people who live in the Himalayas.

Tamang heritage trek, we pass through flourishing thick forests, terraced green farmland, verdant midlands and many more. This trek also gives you chance to visit several Tamang villages Gatlang, Goljung, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddim. The trail also offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Langtang portion of the Himalayas, including Langtang Lirung, which measures over 23,000 feet and also the majestic views of the soaring views of Manaslu Massif, Ganesh Himal and Jugal Himal. There are also incredible views of the mountains on the Tibetan side of the border, as well as villages peeking out from the mountains and valleys along the way.

The Tamang people originally came from Tibet, several hundred years ago, as horse traders and they settled down in the hilly parts of Nepal that are close to the Kathmandu valley. They have maintained their own identity with strong Tibetan roots and they have preserved their own language. Sad to say but the earthquake of 2015 has worst affected the area where people live. So, Tamang Heritage Trek not only offers you the local culture and stunning scenarios but also gives you an opportunity to help those local people who were affected by the earthquake. To help their local people we can stay in local homes and lodges where all accommodation, lodging and food are offered at local houses on a rotational basis.

Open Trail Treks always make sure that our customers had been satisfied with us. Open Trail Treks arranges Tamang Heritage Trek at a reasonable cost as well as we also follow all the safety measures for the trek. We offer our visitors a, license holder, trained, knowledgeable, experienced, helpful and careful guide and the porters or helpers. If you want to do Tamang Heritage Trek, we are always here for you, feel free to contact us if you have any queries about the trek.

Accommodation During Trekking

During the trek, we will be staying at local teahouses. These offer accommodation and food served in a dining room which also functions as a social meeting place with other trekkers. All accommodation is on a twin shared basis. A single room is usually available at a little extra cost. The tour guide will arrange the best available accommodation in each village. As we advance to higher and more remote villages it may occasionally be necessary to share a room with more than 2 people. During the treks, most of the bathroom and toilet facilities are shared and the toilet can be either a squat or a western toilet.

Meals During Trekking

In Kathmandu, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food such as Thali and Momo at a traditional Nepalese restaurant. For instance, a Newari restaurant is a special place serving Newari food (the Newari are the indigenous people of the Kathmandu valley). Newari food is famous and unique. During the trek, we will eat traditional Nepalese food as well as more international cuisine (Tibetan, Indian, Italian, and continental). Dinner and breakfast will be taken at the teahouse where we spend the night and lunch at one of the trail teahouses.
